Human rights defenders from Bahrain, Syria and Cote d’Ivoire call upon belarusian authorities to release Ales Bialiatski

We, in Syrian Human Rights Organization- SWASIAH, received the news of the detention of Ales Bialiastski, FIDH vice president and president of the Human Rights Centre “Viasna” in Belarus in August, 4th, 2011 with a big concern about his physical and psychological integrity.  

SWASIAH calls upon the authorities in Belarus to take prompt action in order to release Mr. Ales Bialiastski immediately.

The Bahrain Human Rights Society (BHRS) condemns the arrest of Ales Bialiatski, Vice-President of FIDH and President of “Viasna” and demands his immediate release by the Government of Belarus.

Geneviève Diallo, Republic of Cote d’Ivoire, Network Peace and Security of Women in the West Africa States (RESPFECO)

Network for Peace and Security for Women of the West Africa States, Cote d’Ivoire office, condemns the arbitrary arrest of the Vice-President of FIDH by the authorities of Belarus, and demands his immediate release. On behalf of the Network, I call on Ales Bialiatski to not lose hope, because human rights defenders from around the world support his activities and will never abandon him. I call on the international community to intervene and to demand his release, as well as an end to the violation of human rights in Belarus.
