October 12, 2012

The human rights defender Uladzimir Malei regularly reminds the society about the imprisoned head of the Human Rights Center “Viasna” Ales Bialiatski during marathon races, not only in Belarus but also abroad.

Last year an international marathon took place in Malaryta with participation of well-known racers from Belarus, Russian and Ukraine. Uladzimir Malei ran the distance of 10 kilometers. Before starting the race he publicy dedicated it to the 50-year jubilee of Ales Bialiatski and his freedom. Malei was waring a black T-shirt with Bialiatski’s portrait and the inscription “Freedom to Ales Bialiatski!”. Despite a small trauma, he took the third, prize-winning place and was awarded with a diploma and a medal.
