In Maryinskyj park in Kyiv, where the International Day of Solidarity with the Civil Society in Belarus was marked on 4 August, unknown people in masks tore down photos of Belarusian actions of protests and slogans with the demand to release political prisoners.
While the unidentified hooligans tore down the photos, a youngster who introduced himself as Yury Kleynos, showted in a loudspeaker that the actions of the organizers of the photo exhibition are aimed at the destruction of the relations between Belarus and Ukraine. At the same time, he stated that he didn’t know the people in masks and that they just came together with him.
“Space of Free Belarus” is an action, dated the International Day of Solidarity with the Civil Society of Belarus. “Center for Civil Liberties”, the Ukrainian organization of “Amnesty International” and the International festival of human rights documentaries were among the organizations who took part in the event.
The International Day of Solidarity with the Civil Society of Belarus was first marked a year ago, on the first anniversary of the imprisonment of Belarusian human rights defender Ales Bialiatski.
