Former political prisoner Vasil Parfiankou sent for forced treatment


Former political prisoner Vasil Parfiankou has been placed in medical and labor dispensary No. 1 in the town of Svetlahorsk, after serving five days of arrest in Minsk. Human Rights Center “Viasna” learned this from the official information system of the forced treatment facilities.

Former political prisoner Uladzimir Yaromenak sentenced to 3 months of arrest

Uladzimir Yaromenak, activist of the Young Front opposition movement and former political prisoner, was sentenced to three months of arrest on charges of violating preventive supervision restrictions. The verdict was pronounced this morning by Judge Leanid Yarmolenkau of Minsk Pershamaiski District Court.

Uladzimir Jaromienak was arrested in January 2011 as a suspect on the case on “mass disturbances”. He was sentenced for three years. He served the punishment term in a penal colony near Viciebsk. In August 2011 he was pardoned among others. Since then he ended up behind bars several times for administrative violations.

On 15 March 2013 the court of Minsk’s Piershamajski district extended the preventive supervision over the activist for another 6 months.
